Fouts Family Farm History Preserved in Kansas Narrative
Richard Maxwell and his wife Alice recount the Fouts family legacy from Indiana to Kansas. Jacob Fouts bought 80 acres near Ottawa in 1866, donated land for Foutts School and Fouts Cemetery, leading to the saying The Fouts educated and then buried. The farm grew to 119 acres, with wheat and soybeans under Maxwell care. The old school closed in 1961 and the schoolhouse became a home, now occupied by Cyril Reznicek, while Maxwell upholds community service on local boards.
