McNamara Plans War Visit as U.S. Troops Look Up
Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara will travel to South Vietnam for his ninth trip next week amid talks of increasing U.S. forces. Current troop levels exceed 462,000 with potential adds of 25,000 to 100,000 depending on campaign plans and objectives. Top officials expect possible one more division, while ground fighting could intensify and influence 1968 election considerations.
