Would Oust Tulsa Police Official
Tulsa Police Commissioner Jay L. Jones faced a county grand jury recommendation to oust him amid a federal conviction for conspiring to violate liquor laws. The panel charged him with corruption and willful maladministration and asked Judge W. Lee Johnson to suspend him pending outcome. Jones must show cause next Wednesday why suspension should not be immediate and has until June 25 to answer. If contested, a district court trial would require at least nine of 12 jurors to remove him.

Rodeo Hand Arrested in Ottawa Area
One of the nation’s leading rodeo hands, lard Lister Junior Vaughn, was arrested on charges of drunkenness and disturbing the peace after smashing a back door glass at the Paul property. Vaughn, living in a trailer on the Paul farm, claimed he wanted to use a telephone. He pleaded guilty to both charges in County Court and was fined $50 for drunkenness and $50 for disturbing the peace.
