Leavenworth joins cities approving Sunday liquor sales
Leavenworth and Lansing voted to permit alcohol sales on Sundays and holidays. Lansing allows liquor stores to operate noon to 7 p.m. Sundays and holidays, while Leavenworth sets 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sundays and holidays, with a separate measure for beer and wine coolers at grocers and convenience stores. The ordinances take effect in 60 days if no protests occur. Kansas bans Sunday sales, unlike Missouri which allows them. Wyandotte County led the trend last fall with a differing opt out under the state Liquor Control Act.
