Oasis Club met May 23 at Westminster Community Church for a potluck luncheon. Margaret Flemming reported the Kansas City trip was canceled. Next meeting 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Sherwood Inn Garnett with city tour and local sights. July at Lorraine Max’s home. August at an undecided restaurant. Richard Stremple entertained with tunes. Army National Guard ceremony honors Master Sergeant Robert L. Stevanus with the Legion of Merit after a 40 year career.

Weather earns Skunk Run stripes at Ottawa quilt show
The Ottawa quilt show drew visitors including a New Zealand guest. Sue Petersen of Ottawa won the Starburst Quilt. About 30 runners entered the road races with Maryanne Clem of Olathe taking 5K women’s top spot and Roger Mendell of Ottawa winning the men’s 5K. Tessa Dunlap and Gabe Sheffield, ages 11 and 10, led the one mile fun run.
