Elmer Sellers aged 67, former Ot tawan resident, died May 31 in a Wamega hospital. Born July 12, 1888 in Park County Indiana, he moved to Kansas as a child, served in World War I, worked as a plumber, and later went to Roswell New Mexico where a 1925 accident left him totally blind. Surviving: widow Pauline Sellers, brother Narva Sellers of Ottawa, sister Mary of Williamsburg, plus uncles and nieces. Funeral and burial held at Wamego.

Margaret Hays 91 longtime Lyndon resident died at 1 a m today in a Topeka rest home after five years of declining health. Born November 28 1864 in Pennsylvania she married George Hays May 30 1885. He died January 8 1939. Surviving daughters are Mrs Jennie Fager Milton Oregon Mrs Maude Coppinger Winchester and Mrs Bess Hepworth Osage City. Funeral Thursday at 2 p m Shaffer Mortuary Lyndon with interment in Lyndon cemetery.

Riley Dietz Jr. a 23 year old Navy enlisted man, jailed in Cloud County Kansas over a $34.50 fine for reckless driving and license violation, drew requests from Iowa Governor Leo Hoegh and Rep Fred Schwengel to intervene. Kansas prosecutor Gordon Danielson says law requires payment. Dietz’s father argues jail time should count toward the fine. Schwengel says he will raise with the Navy, and Hoegh's office plans to contact Kansas Governor Fred Hall for a report.
