Head Start in-kind office space discussed in Franklin County

Franklin County commissioners debated the Head Start office space in the courthouse and the county’s in-kind donation. County officials noted the third floor’s cooling and heating costs and the office’s longstanding courthouse location since before 1966. Richard Jackson of ECKAN called the space a required in-kind contribution, with other counties giving cash donations. Commissioner Waymire and Harold Fuller weighed moving the office against continuing the in-kind arrangement. The board also approved a 15039 grant from the Licensed Environmental Protection Program to fund a county sanitarian’s salary as health officials outlined strategic planning and a potential name change for the Public Health Department.
