Don J. Wilson, 78, Mission Texas, Dies After Illness
Don J. Wilson of Mission Texas died June 2 1999 at Brooke Army Medical Center San Antonio after an extended illness. He moved to Texas in 1991 from Burlingame born September 1 1920 in Agra. He served in the Navy aboard USS Detroit Henley and Massey including Pearl Harbor Coral Sea and Korean theater. He was a rural mail carrier for 18 years in Topeka and a Pearl Harbor survivor. He married Dixie Lee Rogers in 1952. she survives in Mission. Also surviving are daughter Darcy Heston Topeka two sisters Darlene Botkin Lexington Ky Erma Hoobler St Marys four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter Dawn Lee Wilson sister Elsie Mae Wolf. Memorial services 10 30 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church Overbrook with military honors by American Legion Post 400 at Ridgeway Cemetery. The family will receive friends after 9 30 a.m. Saturday at the church. Donations to Helping Hands Humane Society Topeka or donor's choice to Greenwood Roberts Heise Funeral Home Overbrook directing.
