Dennis Thompson began June 1 as Associate Dean of Continuing Education at the Ottawa campus. He aims to expand offerings, boost enrollment, and tailor classes to community needs while serving as site director overseeing operations, staff, and facilities. He plans on on-site community outreach and increasing revenue through expanded credit and non-credit programs.
Deputy Franklin County Attorney Frederick L. Meier II has joined the race to become county attorney, the chief law enforcement post vacated by Larry Wright. Meier, a Republican like challenger John R. Dowell, filed with the county clerk and vows to run a full-time prosecutorial office.
Lt. Detective Alan Radcliffe age 38 and Undersheriff Craig Davis age 54 announced their Republican bids to succeed Rex Bowling, who has led Franklin County for 26 years. KPERS says it will not receive money from the largest claim while settling eight of thirteen lawsuits against Reimer and Roger Associates, Kenneth Koger, and Christopher Diebel. The system lost about 265 million in direct investments in real estate and companies. about 70 million has been recovered overall.
