Two Divorce Suits Filed

In Franklin County District Court two petitions for divorce were filed. Meriel Patrick of Sycamore seeks divorce from LeRoy Patrick on grounds of gross neglect of duty and extreme cruelty, also requesting a restraining order and custody of three minor children. Lucile Hayden seeks divorce for her daughter Lila H. Ledom from Harry L. Ledom, alleging extreme cruelty and gross neglect, with Ledom to support a child due in September 1955. attorneys are Bowers and Bowers.

Chemical Will Prevent Dust Demonstration on John Brown Highway

A Dow Chemical expert demonstrated calcium chloride application to about 11 miles of the John Brown highway near Princeton. The county will not incur costs, with the work starting at Princeton and heading east. County Engineer Fred Gardner said observers from other counties attended to study the dust suppression method.

Flexible pricing not the fix for wheat market says veteran grower

Washington wheat growers spokesman Kenneth Kendrick of Stretford Rev and Walter Lillard of Tex president of the National Rev. Walter B. Lillard told senators that a flexible price support system will not reduce production or consumption. Walter Lillard, 73, died at his Ottawa home after years of failing health. Born March 12, 1882, he followed ministry after leaving Ottawa at 18, preaching in Salina Manhattan and Kansas towns. His last charge was St Paul AME church in Dodge City, he retired and moved back to Ottawa about two years ago.

Funeral for long listed relative at Diamond church near Lone Elm

Funeral services will be held at the Diamond church near Lone Elm Friday at 2 p m. The body will lie at Sleepers Funeral Home Iola until the hour. Interment will be in Lone Elm cemetery beside her husband who died in 1952. Family includes brother 13 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Fire Levels Beach Concession Stands at Seaside Heights

NE wind fanned a blaze that destroyed about four blocks of seaside concessions in Seaside Heights New Jersey. Estimated damage reached one million dollars. The fire swept the oceanfront resort for two and a half hours before 150 firefighters contained it at around 8:30 a.m. Survivors include Nadine Lillard and family members in Kansas City.
