Officers Help Sane Horses In Accident
A Franklin County collision on Greenwood Road involved a pickup truck pulling a horse trailer. The trailer unhitched, overturned, and two show horses were seriously injured while the driver Bob Ramshaw was hospitalized for possible back injuries. Vets and a Kansas trooper provided first aid. the gelding lost an ear and the mare suffered deep facial and leg wounds. The horses were valued at about $2000, likely ending their show careers.

Peace Move In Northern Ireland Releases 50 Suspects
Belfast AP reports British administrator William Whitelaw freed 50 IRA suspects as a peace gesture, bringing total releases to 125 in two days while sniper fire claims a second British trooper’s death. Since direct rule began March 24, 520 detainees have been freed. nearly 300 remain held. An Army spokesman said a trooper was killed on foot patrol in Andersonstown as troops returned fire. The death toll in Northern Ireland reaches 357 since 1969. Another soldier died Tuesday in New Lodge Road as troops faced firing in Londonderry.

Pickets At Two Sites Slow Iron Workers Protest
