Seven Killed In Kansas Weekend Auto Crashes
Kansas reports seven traffic fatalities over the weekend raising year total to 252. Victims include two Hollywood actresses Lola D Annunzio and Mrs Phyllis Palumbo both 26 in a crash seven miles west of Meade on US 54. Also killed were Clifford A Hush 49 Emporia in a two car crash east of Emporia near Highways 50S and 75. Mrs Joe Ann Partington 26 Chase injured fatally in accident near Potwin. Charles Richard Jaycox 73 Wichita in a two car collision near Goddard. Sherman Lee Beal 21 Wichita fatally injured when car hit a culvert and pole near Wichita. Phillip Farr 3 Chandler Arizona in a one car crash west of Neal. John G Walcott Marlboro Mass driver of the other car injured. condition listed as good.

Deaths Albert Hubbard 61 of Ottawa obituary notes service
Albert Cheney Hubbard 61 of Ottawa died Sunday at 5 a m in Ransom Memorial Hospital. He lived 21 years in Rantoul and the rest in Ottawa at 120 North Cedar. He suffered heart attacks in April and May and was moved to the hospital May 20. Born December 4, 1894 in Ottawa, he was the son of Francis and Mary Ann Hubbard. His first wife was Gertrude Baker. On December 28, 1943 he married Mrs Rachel Ledom at Leavenworth. Surviving are the widow, 11 stepchildren including Frank, Barney, Gilbert and Clyde Ledom of Ottawa, Raymond Ledom route 2 Ottawa, Max Ledom Kansas City, Richard Ledom Fullerton California, Mrs Howard McCurdy, Mrs Billie Schulz of Arkansas City, Mrs Frank Couts of Kansas City, 31 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and several cousins. He had three gold service chevrons and fought in World War I including the Battle of the Marne, St Mihiel drive, Argonne offensive and other major battles. He belonged to the Assembly of God church and A F of L. The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p m from Towner's Funeral Chapel with Rev William R Weber officiating and Paul Stone Jr will sound taps. Interment in Highland cemetery.

Two 12 year old spelling champions Gloria Lockerman of Baltimore and Andy Douglass of Greenwich shared the top prize after a draw on The $64,000 Challenge. They each walk away with $32,000 and plan to place winnings in trust funds. Both had answered the $64,000 spelling question correctly a week earlier, and a spell-off was canceled by the show’s producers.
