New Jersey highway reopens after forest fire near shore
A 24 mile stretch of Garden State Parkway in Berkeley Township reopened around 2 am after a forest fire closed it and forced evacuations of about 500 homes. The 1,000 acre blaze was described as pretty well contained by 4 am as crews watched for rekindling while smoke reduced visibility along the corridor. Classes were canceled in Central Regional School District on Monday.
