Student design team wins NASA aviation contest
Kansas State University mechanical engineering graduate Brenda Klingele joins the Kansas General Aviation Design team, which won first place in the 1994 95 general aviation design competition. The team included students and faculty from KSU KU and Wichita State University. The project was sponsored by NASA with FAA and the general aviation industry. Marine Pvt Scott L Vink from Anderson County High School Garnett completed 11 weeks of recruit training at Camp Pendleton San Diego to earn the title Marine.

Drunken man under 170-pound sleeper crushes child
A 23-year-old man Kelvin Hagins slept atop a couch where a 1 year old boy, Karen Harris, lay. Police say Hagins, who had been drinking, suffocated the toddler. Hagins was charged with manslaughter and held on $100,000 bail. The child was staying with the boy’s mother’s boyfriend, Joseph Smith, who left the house with the child on a living room sofa.
