Hutchinson Kansas Underground Salt Museum set a one day attendance record with 655 visitors on Saturday, eclipsing the 647 mark from July 2009. Linda Schmitt of the Reno County Historical Society notes heat relief drew people inside, with the museum maintaining a constant 70 degrees. Over 500 people have visited each Saturday this month.
In Derby near Wichita a 3-foot croc like reptile wander the subdivision pond over the weekend. Residents described it as a young alligator or cai man crocodile. Sedgwick County animal control set baited lines but saw no capture. Officials suspect it was released by a former pet owner.
