Brown v. Board plaintiff head OPERA Kans. dies at 93
Lucinda Todd, a Topeka teacher and secretary for the local NAACP chapter, was one of the 13 original plaintiffs in Brown v. Board. She helped spur the 1954 ruling that ended school segregation. Funeral services were pending. she died Wednesday in a Topeka nursing home at age 93.

Charles Myers Burrows 76 of Lawrence died July 17 1996 at Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Funeral at 10 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church Lawrence officiated by Rev. Virgil Brady. Cremation. Burrows born Sept 21 1919 in Ottawa to Charles P and Emma Snow Myers Burrows. He studied at Ottawa public schools Ottawa University KU where he earned a business degree in 1941. He worked 20 years in Kansas State Post Audit and audited KU for 12 years before joining KU in 1961. Retired as associate comptroller 1981 after 40 year state service and KU employee of the year 1978. He lived in Lawrence since 1961. He married Beverly J. Pope March 22 1942 in Ottawa. He served KU retirees, Jayhawk Kiwanis and Meals on Wheels. Survived by wife three daughters Ann Hayman Dee Clifford Jean Truman, son Gary Burrows and two granddaughters. Memorials to First United Methodist Church or KU Endowment Association. Services in Lawrence. Raymond Warner Ottawa obituary follows.
