City May Cut Property Tax Mill Levy Next Year
City Manager Weldon Padgett says there should be no increase in the 2003 city property tax mill levy and a possible slight decrease. He plans to reduce transfers from utility funds to cover the gap, tapping reserves and other sources while expecting higher sales tax receipts. The county valuation rise could further ease property taxes for individuals. The Ottawa City Commission reviewed police and municipal court budgets as work continued on the general fund and the full city budget.
