House Panel Proposes FY 93 CDBG Increase
The VA HUD subcommittee recommended a $4 billion CDBG budget for FY 1993 beginning August 1, with a broad push for housing programs. Low income housing would total about $10 billion, HOME funding would drop to $600 million, HOPE steady at $361 million, and Section 8 aid at $1.75 billion. NASA space station funding tops $1.7 billion, while space station funding faces potential cuts to fund housing. Activists praise the CDBG rise but worry HOME cuts amid tighter federal limits.
