Riots erupt after police shooting in New York
In Washington Heights, about 500 protesters clashed with police after Jose Garcia, 23, was shot by an officer. Fires burned on multiple blocks as bottles flew, three officers were hurt and at least 10 people were injured. One man died leaping from a roof during the chase. Police said Garcia possessed a .38 revolver and resisted disarmament. About 25 arrests were made as the unrest spanned nearly 70 blocks.
