Hartford remembers 1944 Ringling circus disaster tragic legacy

In Hartford the 1944 Ringling Brothers circus fire memory lingers for survivor families Rose Dunn and Herbert Dunn. The blaze killed 168, injured 500 plus, prompting a flameproof safety code. Bandleader Merle Evans moved the crowd to safety as flames engulfed the big top. Six officials were charged with involuntary manslaughter and served prison sentences.
