Franklin County Jail records show Peter Quinter aged 32 of Pomona booked on a City of Pomona warrant at 2 06 p m Friday at 303 S Main St. Jason Sawyer 24 of Ottawa was cited for suspected DUI at 2 03 a m Saturday on South Main. Charles Green 43 Ottawa and Dale Anderson 22 Princeton detained for domestic battery on Sunday. Patience Munger 22 Princeton held on Osage County warrant. Police reports note Nicholas Bacon 19 Ottawa booked for domestic battery and obstruction after 7 07 p m Monday at 305 S Main St following earlier incident near South Ash Street.
A Sunday 9 11 a.m. report in the 2600 block of Indiana Terrace describes a 56 year old Ottawa woman claiming a 43 year old Ottawa man pushed her and damaged property with the man arrested for domestic battery. Later a 22 year old Princeton man and 22 year old Princeton woman disputed at 206 block High Street, with the man jailed for domestic battery and the woman held on an Osage County warrant. Theft recounts note a 69 year old Richmond man reporting 15 gallons of gasoline stolen from a tractor on South State Street, valued at 38 dollars, and a 43 year old Pomona man reporting an unknown suspect broke into his home stealing medication and knives on West A Street. Accidents list a 27 year old Bel Air Maryland woman driver Kristin Scherer driving off Alabama Road and Old U.S. 50 causing front and passenger side damage, towed by Ottawa’s A&T Towing, with control loss on gravel. A 52 year old Wellsville man Bart Page on Tennessee Road crashed at 1 45 a.m. Saturday, vehicle damaged over 1000 dollars, Page reporting later with visible injuries and a report of leaving the scene forwarded to the Franklin County Attorney. Finally a 20 year old Allen Texas man Chi Him Ng on I 35 milepost 195 struck highway debris, damage over 1000 dollars.
Police notes from Monday report a 26 year old Ottawa man alleging property damage in the 900 block of Cypress Street. A 62 year old Ottawa woman says she was battered in the 700 block of South Ash Street. A 19 year old Ottawa man was later arrested for domestic battery and obstruction. A 27 year old Ottawa woman reports her vehicle damaged in the 700 block of South Main Street. A man in the 1000 block of South Cedar Street reports a window broken in his vehicle overnight.
Ottawa firefighters responded to two calls on Friday. At 1 24 p.m. they investigated an activated smoke detector at 430 West Ninth Street. At 1 40 p.m. they investigated a smoke odor at 715 West Second Street.
Lawrence E. William Calvin Finch 81 of Ottawa died January 16, 2012 at Osage Nursing Center. He served in Korea and worked in construction, oil fields, service stations, and as a KU custodian. He married Patricia Edwards and later Maxine Dobbs. Survived by three daughters, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two sisters. Burial at Fouts Cemetery. Repose at Dengel & Son Mortuary. Memorials to Osage Nursing Center Activity Fund.
Willis W. Gilliland known as Bill Gilliland, born September 3, 1942 in Ottawa, died January 2012 in Osage City. Funeral at Dengel Son Mortuary Ottawa with inurnment at Woodlawn Cemetery Pomona. Survived by daughter Shirley Mertes and others. military service in US Army and Air Guard. former laborer and cook. multiple marriages and stepchildren. Family to meet 9 a.m. Thursday before service. Rex Dewayne Hughes 82 of Ottawa died January 16 2012. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Friday January 20 2012 at Highland Cemetery. He was born January 13 1930 on the family dairy farm southwest of Ottawa. He served briefly in 1956 then returned to farming and dairy work. Survivors include his sister-in-law Fern Hughes Ottawa a nephew Larry and wife Barb Owen Ottawa a niece Leah and husband Bob Crawford Ottawa and several great nieces and nephews. The family welcomes visitors Friday from noon to 1 p.m. prior to the service at Lamb Roberts Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter.
