U.S. expands required male registration to five more nations
The INS will require thousands more males age 16 and older from Indonesia Egypt Jordan Kuwait and Bangladesh to register, be photographed and fingerprinted as part of post 9 11 border security efforts. Iran Iraq Libya Sudan and Syria visa holders who missed a December deadline get another chance without penalty, officials say. The expansion adds to the 25 country roster, with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan already facing Feb 21 deadlines, while protests and a court challenge followed earlier detentions of Iranians in Southern California.
