Wood burning warning issued after Garnett fire on porch
Garnett fire officials report an alarm at the Samuel Freeman residence on Sixth and Walnut after wooden siding and exterior flames. Chief Jerry Gettler cites ashes from a wood stove in a non metal container as the cause, urging proper ash disposal and chimney care as cold weather increases wood use. Fire damage estimated at about 25000 dollars across fire, smoke and water.
