Store refuses to accept coins over anthrax fears
In Portsmouth New Hampshire a father scraped together 3.13 to buy baby food but a grocery store refused rolled coins fearing anthrax. Anthony Ouellette 27 said he then used a coin counting machine elsewhere to tally 15¢ in loose pennies. He works three jobs to support his five month old Abbygail and family and described the episode as embarrassing. Manager Darin Artus said the firm began rejecting rolled coins after anthrax scares when coins could conceal a powdery substance.
