ASCS Sign-Up Opens With 1987 Farm Program Details
Franklin County ASCS offers 1987 farm program options retaining key 1986 features while further reducing wheat corn and grain sorghum planting. Meetings led by executive director Dave Hornung explain acreage reduction and 50-92 provisions, cross compliance, set aside rules, and advance deficiency payments, including figures for wheat. Farmers must reduce base acreages and maintain conservation plans to qualify for government checks with drought risks noted.

1987 Program Factors and Farm Benefit Calculations
The Advance for the Paid Land Diversion is 50 percent with half cash and half PIK certificate. The 15 percent Optional Paid Diversion affects government loans on harvested wheat and a 100 acre base could yield up to 4872 dollars depending on deficiency payments. Various planting, layout ground, and conservation rules apply for 50-92 and feed grain programs, with ASCS clerks offering help and offices closed to the public until 12:30 p.m. through January to finish 1986 programs.
