Worden church to sponsor ham and bean supper bulletin

Worden United Methodist Church plans a ham and bean supper and craft bazaar from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the church 3% miles west of the Baldwin junction. Menu includes ham and beans corn bread cole slaw pie and coffee or tea. Donations accepted.

Irey to lead Southern Lyon County district July first

Area superintendent James Irey, currently leading MdCV, will become the Southern Lyon County district superintendent starting July 1. He was chosen from 11 candidates amid a plan to narrow the field to five by March 28. Irey will replace Dennis Versch, moving to Peabody-Burns.

House committee backs concealed weapons bill in open hearing

The House Federal and State Affairs Committee heard testimony supporting a bill to allow citizens with licenses to carry concealed weapons. Licensed carriers would must carry licenses, valid for three years, with proper ID produced when demanded.
