Winds fuel two Franklin County grass fires near Lane
Strong winds and dry conditions powered a busy rural day as two grass fires burned acres in Franklin County near Ottawa. The first blaze on Rock Creek Road, sparked by a downed power line insulator, scorched about 55 acres with no injuries or structural damage. A second fire south of Lane burned less than 100 acres in timber, with houses at risk but no injuries. Fire departments from Lincoln Ottawa Harrison, Pomona and others battled the flames, aided by Sheriff and Emergency Management.

In Franklin County District Court Ottawa a 24 year old woman Stephanie Francine Brannan is charged with one count of aggravated indecent liberties with a 15 year old boy. The boy testified the relationship began in June and included smoking marijuana and sex in the living room on many occasions over the summer. The boy and his younger brother sometimes stayed with Brannan who was a family friend. The mother reported the incident and Brannan was arrested in September 2015. Arraignment set for March 7.
