Kansas bill sets minimum admissions for six state universities
Kansas House Education Committee endorsed a bill to require high school graduates to meet one of three standards for entry to the six state universities. Options include a 2.0 GPA in a college prep curriculum, a 21 ACT score, or ranking in the top third of class, with a 10 percent exemption for entering freshmen. The plan, tied to a 2000-01 start, allows transfers from community colleges after two years and mandates a four year English, three math, three social studies, three science, and two foreign language plus one year of computer science in the college prep curriculum.
