Ottawa author’s high school football novel draws on Ottawa roots
Ottawa native Mark Dengel, now a Rhode Island teacher, wrote Screaming Eagles, a coming of age football novel set around Rhode Island high schools. He draws on his Ottawa High School days and his Battle with publishing, balancing family life with drafting the story of brothers Jack and Sam Bowden. Dengel’s cover art was created by his daughter Alexis, and his publishing path with Martin Sisters Publishing followed months of writing and edits.
