Weigand, chief of the Ottawa Area Chamber of Commerce, says several strong applications are under review for a new tourism position. He hopes a qualified hire will bring more events like the History Channel’s Great Race to Ottawa and boost overnight stays. A new tourist information center opened in 2003 near K-68, drawing about 8,000 visitors, while kiosks on Main Street, created with the Franklin County Historical Society, will showcase local history with audio narratives.
