Grass fire at 317 S. Oak causes no damage
Ottawa Fire Department responded to a grass fire at 317 South Oak yesterday at 11 43 a m. No damage reported. Dr Thornburgh’s office will be closed until January 2. Glen Edmundson 24 of 326 Walnut was convicted in Police Court of being drunk in a public place and sentenced to 30 days jail after an arrest on December 24.

William Allen DeFord 86 longtime Ottawa resident died recently in La Jolla California. He served as Franklin County attorney former chief counsel for Hearst newspapers and held posts as assistant attorney general of New York state and assistant district attorney of New York County. He attended Ottawa University and KU and was married to Anna Crane of Ottawa who died in 1909. He remained connected with Ottawa acquaintances despite years away.
