In Chesapeake Virginia Lee Boyd Malvo was sentenced to life without parole for his role in the 2002 sniper spree that killed ten people. The jury cited his youth and influence by John Allen Muhammad as factors in sparing him the death penalty, with an 8 1/2 hour deliberation over two days.
