At 10:34 a.m. Tuesday a 33-year-old Ottawa man reported several items stolen from his vehicle in the 600 block of South Cedar Street. The incident followed a similar report earlier at 10:43 a.m. in the Jane 400 block of East 1a Street. Unknown suspects are being sought.
At 4 02 PM Monday on West Wilson Street in Ottawa Desiree Winkler 37 drove a 2001 Dodge Caravan westbound and collided with a 1998 Mitsubishi Galant driven by Jacqueline Munchenke 57 as the Galant pulled from a driveway. Both vehicles sustained over 1000 in damage. Winkler and her juvenile passenger were checked by Franklin County EMS but refused hospital transport.
Police logs show incidents across Wellsville including criminal damage to property on Benton Drive, unsecure building on East Sixth Street, criminal defamation on Main Street, aggravated battery on Walnut Street, criminal threat on Locust Street, and traffic complaints on East Seventh Street. Other entries note public assistance, civil matter, lost property, and assistance to outside agency.
Fire departments across Williamsburg Williamsport Pomona and Ottawa responded to several incidents including an apparent structure fire on Alabama and Hamilton roads at 1 37 p m Saturday and a structure fire on 116 E Warren Road at 9 11 a m Monday. An activated smoke detector at 18 Canterbury Court Apt B produced no fire due to malfunction and there was no damage. A structure fire was reported at E A and E Fifth streets in Pomona at 7 18 a m Wednesday.
Ottawa Co-op quotes for Wednesday afternoon list hard wheat 6.21 soybeans 11.24 corn 6.12 milo 5.77. Franklin County USDA Farm Service Agency posted prices show corn 5.68 milo 9.98 oats 2.53 soybeans 10.99 wheat 6.11.
Wayne Woody of Baldwin City Kansas died December 20 2011 at age 80. He grew up in multiple states and served as a Chief Supply Officer in the U S Navy during the Korean War earning the American Defense Service Medal and China Service Medal. He married Mary Ellen Landrum February 11 1956 in Hutchinson Kansas and they shared 56 years of marriage. Memorial services are set for December 23 at 2 p m at Mt Calvary Cemetery in Baldwin City. Contributions may go to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society through Dengel and Son Mortuary Ottawa Kansas.
Kenneth A Keller 92 of Garnett died December 19 2011 at Golden Heights in Garnett He was born May 26 1919 in Weston Missouri to Fred Keller and Ruby Osbourne Keller A World War II veteran he served in the Army Calvary and received a Purple Heart He married Elva Rose McKinney June 22 1944 in Lawrence She preceded him in death He married Wilma Mendenhall April 6 1968 She survives He is also survived by daughters Carol Rose Johnson Everett Washington Janet Sue Deckard Lenexa a stepson Payne Mendenhall Overland Park four stepdaughters Carolyn Collier Overland Park Karen Showalter Garnett Sharon Stearns Warsaw Marilyn Kelly Topeka 11 grandchildren and several great grandchildren a brother Delbert Corky Keller Spring Hill He was preceded in death by brothers Richard and Marion Toby Keller Burial is 2 pm Friday at Mt Sidney Cemetery Eudora Family will greet friends 6 8 pm Thursday at the funeral home Memorials may be made to Golden Heights Living Center.
