Effectiveness of DARE program taken to task
Wichita State University researchers say DARE yields positive short term gains but negligible long term impact on student attitudes and drug use. The study, of 288 high school seniors who had DARE in grades 5 to 7 and 331 who did not, notes conflicting societal messages and calls for program adaptations to address older students.
