Women Crewmen Make A Hit With The Navy
SAN FRANCISCO AP The first Navy ship with female crew members completed a one day shakedown aboard the hospital ship USS Sanctuary. Forty women joined 480 men in noncombat sea duty roles from deck hands to surgeons. Several women worked in the galley and laundry while others took indoor desk jobs. Some sailors reported seasickness among both sexes as the ship returned to port.
