Ottawa men and women faced Goodland in the Topside Tipoff finals in Goodland. Led by Lindsey Dieterich with 23 points and 11 rebounds, Ottawa edged Goodland 56 to 46 to claim the tournament title. David Howard also took second at 140, defeated by Matt Barnhart. Peter Foltz was third at 171, and Ottawa’s Rick Croucher placed third. The teams head to the Ottawa Invitational, a 10-team dual with two pools, starting at 9 a.m.
Oakland defeats Kansas City 28-26 as Tim Brown returns a punt for a TD and Regan Upshaw forces a late fumble on a two point try. Chiefs QB Trent Green throws for 253 yards and two scores but fails to convert after a key fumble.
Central Heights wrapped up a three day round robin tournament with a 53-47 win for the Viking boys over Osawatomie and a 62-17 girls victory over Osawatomie. Coach Buddy Welch praised the team's depth and rotation. Vincent Lickteig led the boys with 14 points.
