Ottawa officials favor a closer freeway route to improve city access, even as the plan displaces 33 homes and eight businesses and may require 960 acres. The decision shifts from an earlier eastward option that would cost less land and affect fewer properties. The city plans to rally lawmakers, school boards, and county commissioners to press for signage and a business route, while litigation and timelines loom.
