The first 95 volunteers registering for Pomona Lake Clean Up Day receive T shirts funded by Holthaus Motors Osage City. Clean Up Day is September 10 preregistration required. activities begin at 10 a.m. at the Pomona Lake Information Center with assignments from Corps of Engineers staff. Group offers Ottawa chance at audience verdict play
Auditions for Night of January 16th set for September 11 and 12 at the arts council. Scripts available at OCAC. The event, staged in the old courthouse courtroom, features a juried verdict from the audience with two possible endings and audience voting on favorite entrees. Students prefer math but dislike writing in school survey
The Weekly Reader survey shows 42 percent name math as favorite, up from 32 in 1989, while 44 percent deem it most important to learn. Writing is least favorite and least important. Science is valued by 12 percent as most important though 25 percent favor it. Most students plan college, but fewer than 60 percent may actually go.
