Public TV eyes national ads as funding tightens
CBS reportedly asks 450000 for a half-minute M A S H ad on the final episode. Ten PBS stations sell air time, forming a national campaign with seven joining forces. Officials say premium, uncluttered spots could appeal to advertisers while viewers mostly stay loyal. The push comes as Congress trims and then maintains funding, nudging public TV toward self to avoid government withdrawal.
