Carolinas cleaned up after deadly floods from Jerry rains
Floods from Tropical Storm Jerry drenched the Carolinas leaving at least seven dead as residents returned home to mop up. Up to 20 inches fell, forcing evacuations and causing new flooding downstream while officials warned the danger continued in Richland County. An Asheville rescue team was rescued from the French Broad River amid swift currents and a traffic death was attributed to the rain.

Florida hunters traced a 50 year old alligator in Blackwater River State Forest after collars from dogs vanished with the creature found in its belly. The animal ate at least six dogs over two decades, including Flojo, a $5,000 Walker fox hound. State trackers located the gator with electronic signals and it was captured by four men, then killed.
