Garnett considers banning Rottweilers in dog ordinance
Garnett officials discussed amending the danger ous dog ordinance to add Rottweilers to the vicious breeds list after a Rottweiler attack killed a Manhattan boy. Mayor Janice Hodgson and City Attorney Terry Solander outlined proposals, including breed limits, licensing surcharges, or breed-based bans, while residents urged animal-by-animal consideration. The commission delayed action, planning a work session September 16 to review changes and a separate commercial nuisance rule, as 17 licensed Rottweilers exist in Garnett.
