School board approves district budget details

The board approved funds for district computers and technology. Most mill levies stayed the same or declined. general fund at 35 mills, adult education 0.43, capital outlay four, bond and interest down from 6.1 to 4.8 mills. Recreation commission levy fell to 2.81 mills, lifting total district mill levy to 51.0 mills.

Rail crossing on Wilson Street to close for repairs

Santa Fe Railroad will close the Wilson Street rail crossing for repairs from 8 a.m. Wednesday to Friday, with detours via Tecumseh Street North Locust and K-68 Highway. Ben Park Built a Love for Ottawa and Historic Restoration

Former mayor Ben Park moved to Ottawa in 1951 and shaped restoration efforts in the city, helping place the Downtown Ottawa Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places. He died at 74, with plans for funeral services to be announced. Park, known for Old Depot Museum work with Latimer and Madison, later operated Park's Antiques near Main Street.
