National Public Radio Kids Programs Spotlight
National Public Radio started in 1971 as a noncommercial network funded by government support and private contributions. Jessica Lieberman, age 6, and Doris Indyke produced Children’s Radio Theater. Jessica won a Chicken Little Award for writing Rabbit Rescue, a radio drama about two rabbits rescuing another from a fox.

Radio to Air 13 Part Star Wars Series in November
National Public Radio will rerun a 13 part Star Wars radio series starting in November. Mark Hamill replays Luke Skywalker and Anthony Daniels voices See-Threepio with movie-like jerky motions. The spring 1981 airing drew about 50 000 calls and letters. The network also plans The Empire Strikes Back radio version in February 1983.
