Indians ready to sue state over gaming compact
The Prairie Band Potawatomi and three other northeast Kansas tribes plan federal suits to force action on tribal gaming compacts. Attorney Robert Pirtle said the tribe will sue the state and Legislature, aiming to file within a month, as Gov. Finney supports a constructive approach to Indian gaming. Kickapoo also seeks federal approval to compel Interior Department action on its Kansas compact.
