Two Arabs Arrested For Plane Bombing
In Rome police arrested Ahmed Zaid and Hasham Ziad, two Arabs suspected of organizing an explosive booby trap on an El Al Boeing 707. They reportedly handed a phonograph containing the device to two British girls, Ruth Watkin and Audrey Walton, who were bound for Tel Aviv. Explosion tore a hole in the luggage area at 14 000 feet but the aircraft landed safely. Police found explosives in the suspects’ suburban apartment and recovered the dinner remains.
