At 12:30 p.m. on Monday in the 700 block of South Maple Street Steven D. Lively, 43, Ottawa, was arrested on an Anderson County warrant and cited and released on a notice to appear for suspended license driving. At 1:44 p.m. on Monday in the 600 block of East Logan Street Perry P.A. Short, 50, Ottawa, was arrested on an Ottawa warrant and two Franklin County warrants and obstruction of the legal process for giving false information during a traffic stop. At 7:11 p.m. on Monday in the 700 block of West Second Street Christopher A. Grammer, 29, Lawrence, was arrested on an Ottawa warrant.
The Ottawa sheriff reports two theft incidents on Monday with a 35 year old man reporting items stolen from a storage unit valued around 1025 dollars and a 57 year old woman saying her credit card was used three times without permission with total loss undetermined. An accident on K-68 and South Eisenhower Avenue involved a dump truck causing debris to strike a westbound car, with damage over 1000 dollars. A second collision on I-35 near 2300 block saw a deer strike a northbound vehicle, damage over 1000 dollars.
Monday incident in the 200 block of Downey Drive notes an animal complaint handled by the Wellsville Police Department. No injuries or arrests reported, details limited to location and nature of the call.
The city adopts limits on speed 12 mph in streets and 4 mph on bridges, bans under 17 driving, requires bells horns lights and mufflers, and mandates $1 annual registration with rear tag. June McMichael 94 of Pomona Kansas died Sunday August 14 2011 at Ottawa Retirement Village Ottawa Kansas Born June 15 1917 in Ottawa to William Harry Remaly and Florence Cowgill Remaly She worked as an engineer at radio stations KCKN and KCMO in Kansas City and later spent 20 years in food service at Kansas University Medical Center After retirement to Pomona she enjoyed gardening and knitting She married Lyle Robinette in 1940 they later divorced She married Patrick McMichael in 1962 and lived together 15 years until his death in 1977 Survived by two sons Ronald Robinette and William Robinette five grandchildren and two great grandchildren Memorials to animal rescue organizations are suggested Donations may be sent to Lamb Roberts Funeral Home Ottawa Kansas.

The Associated Press reports James Kraig Kahler, 48, of Columbia, Missouri, accused of killing his wife Karen Kahler, her grandmother, and their two daughters near Burlingame, Kansas, after Thanksgiving 2009. Prosecutors seek the death penalty. Kahler’s lawyers cite mental illness and alleged divorce-driven motives, with testimony that Karen pursued a lesbian affair and Kahler blamed the lover Sunny Reese for the marriage breakdown.
