Education officials presented a plan to shift to objective tests at state level with only writing tests retaining performance components. The changes affect math reading writing and other subjects across grades, with the goal of spring 1999 implementation and local districts retaining optional performance portions for local use. OU considers housing reforms to prevent overpopulation
Aschenbrener outlined options such as coed residences and relaxed off campus living rules to ease crowding in OU dorms. Fall enrollment figures arrive after Aug 26, per registrar Elaine Pyle. Upperclassmen may pay extra for single rooms if space allows, though men’s rooms are doubled this year and about four women requested singles. The women's dorm is less full, but many students remain in housing.
