Funeral services are planned for Bert Bell 83 of Pomona who died August 12 1997 at Ransom Memorial Hospital Ottawa and Beverly G O Connor 67 of Wellsville who died August 13 1997 at St Luke s Hospital Kansas City Missouri. Bell s service is 11 a m Saturday at Dengel and Son Mortuary with burial in Princeton Cemetery. O Connor s service is 10 a m Monday at Wilson and Son Chapel with burial in Wellsville Cemetery. Bell was born March 2 1914 in Vernon County Missouri and farmed all his life later working 11 years as a cabinet maker at Ottawa Mill Works. he married Leeda Schoonover in 1937 who died in 1945. Survivors include two daughters two sons two sisters 16 grandchildren 30 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Memorials may go to the American Lung Association. O Connor was born January 21 1930 in Wellsville. she worked as secretary for Baker University and Underwood Equipment Company and at Wellsville Bank. She was a member of Wellsville Baptist Church and the Eastern Star and helped found the Friends of the Library. She is survived by a daughter and three sons among others. memorials to the Wellsville Library.

Steven Jay Burgess, 41, formerly of 204 S. Willow, pleaded guilty in Franklin County District Court to rape and aggravated kidnapping stemming from a May 6 home invasion in rural Ottawa.
