Runaway trailer kills cyclists on Wisconsin ride
Three bicyclists died and another was injured when a detached lumber trailer from Steenberg Homes struck riders on a Wisconsin bridge during a 350 mile charity ride. A fourth cyclist had minor injuries as two escaped unharmed. The trailer came unhitched from the truck cab and rolled into a ditch after impact. Authorities said safety chains were not in use and no charges were filed yet. The event involved about 450 cyclists traveling from Eau Claire toward Milwaukee, continuing the week long ride.
