Anniversary in Borrowed Home in Udall Tornado Loss
A Udall couple whose home was destroyed in the May tornado will borrow a friend's house in Wichita Thursday to celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary. Rev. and Mrs. Harry Scott have lived in Udall most of their married life, with their new Udall home not yet complete. They were married in Waynoka, Oklahoma on August 1, 1915 and have a son, seven daughters, and 15 grandchildren. Rev. Scott recently retired after 50 years as a Congregational minister, much of it in Udall and Douglas, Kansas.

Fall Fatal To Famous Skipper
London report says Captain Dan Parker, 63, died after a fall from the tug Turmoil during a five day salvage effort to tow the Flying Enterprise. Parker helped battle the Atlantic storm to save the stranded freighter before the vessel sank off Ireland. Turmoil and crew were hailed for the rescue of Parker amid the ongoing rescue operations.

Fatzer Finds No Neglect In Slot Machine Seizure
Atty Gen Harold R Fatzer ruled there was no wilful neglect of duty by Sherman County attorney Thomas H Taggart in refusing to sign a complaint during a state seizure of slot machines in Goodland. The seizure of six machines at the Elks Club and three at the VFW followed Fatzer’s 90 minute conference with Taggart in which Taggart said he believed he had no duty to join the proceedings.
